Friends, I have so much I’d like to share. In just three short weeks, I’ve read more than a have in a long while, met amazing men and women of God, debated somewhat, thought a lot. Yes, I was all ready a thinker, but now I have time and encouragement to really ruminate and consider some of the deeper things.
Consequently, I haven’t followed through on some thoughts I want to share with you about God’s faithfulness and the Psalms and Christian ethics and how the heroes of faith help us read the Bible. I’ll chew a bit more on those then get back to you.
For now, I want to share a video from the Church of St. Clement in El Paso. The congregation recently honored rector emeritus Rev. Ron Thomson and his wife Doris. Ron always makes me smile if not all out laugh with his super quick wit and off-the-wall humor that always has some bit of truth lying in wait for you. I also love how he celebrates the Sunday communion service with a vitality that demonstrates our living relationship with the Creator of the universe.
This video, in telling the story of the Thomsons, tells some of the recent history of St. Clement and the congregation’s impact on El Paso.
In the further back history, St. Clements was the first Protestant church between Brownsville, Texas and Santa Fe, N.M. I like that tidbit, as it echoes Christ Church Jerusalem being the first Protestant church in the Middle East. You can read a partial history of the Church of St. Clement on their website. Enjoy the video.
